Danny John-Jules to return for ‘Death in Paradise’ Christmas special

The producers of Death in Paradise must be feeling a bit like Father Christmas this week with the announcement of a new, first-time ever, Christmas special coming our way this holiday season. As producers wrap up production of their 10th anniversary series, the Caribbean crime drama will see some new faces while welcoming back some extremely welcome old faces including Danny John-Jules (Red Dwarf) as Officer Dwayne Myers.

All-things ‘Unforgotten’ as S4 continues this Sunday on PBS Masterpiece

The long-awaited series 4 of Unforgotten finally arrived on our Sunday night telly doorstep a couple of weeks ago. While it has been three long years since we last touched base with DCI Cassie Stuart (Nicola Walker) and DI Sunny Khan (Sanjeev Bhaskar), the audience has already realized after only two weeks that it was worth the wait.

One would expect portraying an eccentric forensic criminologist is hard enough but try portraying an eccentric forensic criminologist with OCD who accidentally becomes an advisor to the police. For Ben Miller, it turns out the Worst Week of My Life, Primeval, Death in Paradise star was able to draw on his own experiences with the mental health condition to portray the brilliant yet socially awkward Professor Jasper Teerlinck in Professor T, which premiered last Sunday on PBS.

Armed with a mission to find the missing, ‘Baptiste’ returns this Fall to PBS Masterpiece

Tchéky Karyo returns as retired detective Julien Baptiste when series 2 of Baptiste premieres this Fall on PBS Masterpiece. The long-awaited psychological crime drama was slowed by COVID restrictions earlier this year but returns to BBC One this Sunday. Swapping Amsterdam’s red light district from series 1 for the woody mountains of Hungary for his next case, Baptiste has an uncanny knack for finding the missing.

First look at ‘Vigil’ with Suranne Jones and Martin Compston

Set in Scotland, Vigil revolves around the events after the mysterious disappearance of a fishing trawler and a death on-board a Trident nuclear submarine. The two incidents see a conflict between local police and British security officers, with the Navy also involved. With the lead role of DCI Amy Silva played by Suranne Jones (Scott and Bailey, Doctor Foster, Gentleman Jack), this should be enough to secure space on my forthcoming telly radar.

Christmas on hold as ‘Downton Abbey 2’ pushed to March 2022

Unfortunately for Downton Abbey fans, there won’t be anything under the tree this Christmas as the release of the sequel to the first feature film of the long-running PBS series has been pushed from December 2021 to March 18, 2022.
