Neil Gaiman explains Doctor Who in 78 words

With a resume far too lengthy ever to put into print, the great Neil Gaiman is one of the icons in the world of comic books, novels, children’s books and film & television writing, that if you have to ask who he is, well, go here.

Recently at WonderCon 2011, a few words of wisdom from @neilhimself that ring so true about the show in regards to whether or not people have to know about the 47 years of Doctor Who mythology before jumping on the bandwagon….

“No, look, there’s a blue box. It’s bigger on the inside than it is on the outside. It can go anywhere in time and space and sometimes even where it’s meant to go. And when it turns up, there’s a bloke in it called The Doctor and there will be stuff wrong and he will do his best to sort it out and he will probably succeed ’cause he’s awesome. Now sit down, shut up, and watch ‘Blink’.”

‘Enuf said. Watch the complete panel with Neil’s explanation coming at 16:28…

FYI, look for Neil’s contribution to Doctor Who, “The Doctor’s Wife” and long-awaited collaboration with Steven Moffat in episode 4 of the upcoming series 6.
